Gallery in the Garden

Today was the annual Gallery in the Garden at Botanica, Wichita's Botanical Gardens. Cris and I went and here she is at the entrance. Various vendors from Wichita and surrounding towns and states bring their art to sell each year in this lovely setting.
One of Cris's favorite spots is the Butterfly Garden. The monarch butterflies were hanging on the house's netting and I thought they were either dead or still chrysalises. On cue, several of them opened their wings and gave us a wave.
Butterfly friendly plants and flowers are everywhere in this netted dome that keeps the butterflies contained and happy.
It really is a big "house." There's a waterfall in front of Cris that supplies fresh water for the many species that live there.
This is the sensory wall, where visitors are encouraged to touch, smell, pinch, and enjoy many herbs and aromatic plants. It is one of my favorite sites.
Yes, these vases were a lot taller than me!!
More of the sensory wall.
Same scene showing some of the many vendors pedaling their wares.
This is a vignette of three lovely bronze water fowl statues. My camera didn't do them justice.
A not much better view of the same bronze birds.
Some of the vendors and visitors in the Gazebo.
More art.
Some vendors had it made in the shade.
Here is the beautiful pond in the center of the gardens.
This view of the water is better color wise. It isn't nearly as murky as the first photo showed.
Visitors were everywhere.
And art was tucked into every nook and cranny of the garden.
What a lovely way to display and sell artwork.
Having this backdrop would make anything look good, including my photo skills.
This area normally has kids programs and events, but today it was filled with colorful pottery.
And the large grassy area holds concerts, family reunions, and weddings. Today, however, tents lined the grassy knoll.
I've heard this is prime real estate when it comes to location. I personally think the backdrop is boring.
But it does draw the crowds, even this early in the day.
The rose garden is always a favorite.
Even though there were no artists set up in this area, it drew visitors like a bee to honeysuckle (OK, I'll quit).
The breezes released a fine mist of water as I walked by this large fountain that was too big for my lens.
The landscaping ideas are unbelievable and the color combinations are really spectacular. Although you can't see them very well, there are purple flowers in the mid-ground behind the yellow mums.
Here is another bronze statue. There are over twenty in the garden now, and there is usually a newly commissioned one each year.
There is something for everyone, including a Japanese style koi pond
complete with flowers and native plants surrounding it.
After we toured the grounds and viewed all the art, none of which really impressed me (except the giant vases), since I didn't find anything similar to what I do, we went to Cinnamon's for grilled cheese sandwiches and soup.
